Activities overseas

As turtles move freely across entire oceans, turtle protection requires international cooperation. At the Sea Turtle Association of Japan, we maintain close contact with researchers and volunteers throughout the world, particularly in the USA, Mexico, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Australia. We also cooperate with local people in Indonesia to survey and protect Hawksbills in the Java Sea and Leatherbacks in Irian Jaya, and in the Maldives to study the ecology of Hawksbills. We also send representatives to international conferences, and share such responsibilities with local residents of Asian turtle habitats.
